Régie invests $8 million to double production. Lines dedicated to produce international cigarette brands


Régie Libanaise des Tabacs et Tombacs (Régie), the State-owned tobacco monopoly, will expand its Hadath factory's production capacity by 50 percent in 2018. Investment in the expansion is around $8 million.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation at Rafik Hariri Beirut International Airport (RHBIA) will increase fees for departing passengers.

The Economic and Social Fund for Development (ESFD) said it has provided nearly 9,800 loans to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) since it launched its operations in 2003 and until September 2017. The overall value of the loans reached 179.9 billion liras (around $120 million).

National datacenters to be tendered by Ministry of Telecom. Bids through private public partnership


The Ministry of Telecommunication (MoT) is planning to build datacenters hosting a local cloud platform, to be owned, managed, and operated by the private sector through the Private Public Partnership law (PPP).

The Central Bank (BDL) is considering issuing a digital currency in the coming years that will be under its own supervision, said Governor Riad Salameh.

Bank of Beirut goes to Ivory Coast.

Bank of Beirut (BoB) said it has decided to establish a bank in the Ivory Coast with an initial capital of 15.25 million euros ($18 million).
