Chalhoub Group merges with Pearl Brands locally. Deal will allow the opening of five new stores


Dubai-based retail group, Chalhoub Group, merged its local operations with local retailer Pearl Brands, a joint press statement announced on Thursday.

Chalhoub Group had bought half of Pearl Brands' shares. The capital of Pearl Brands is LL3.5 billion, according to the Commercial Register.

Beirut hotel occupancy in five and four star hotels grew 1.4 percentage points last year, compared to 2017, reaching a total rate of 65.1 percent, according to Ernst & Young's Middle East hotel benchmark survey.

The Director General of Customs will sign a decision to open ports and Customs offices during weekends. The decision will be effective once signed.

The number of foreign workers who received a work permit for the first time has increased by five percent in 2018, reaching 86,894, according to the Ministry of Labor (MoL).
